Launching: The Democracy Toolkit

There is plenty of evidence that journalism is good for democracy and that the U.S. is experiencing democratic backsliding. So what’s the press to do? One answer is: it needs to cover the backsliding as well as adopt new techniques proven to increase trust, engagement and revenue.

That’s why I created The Democracy Toolkit, in partnership with the Center for Journalism & Democracyd University.

In 2022, we launched the first version of the site, built on Notion. But in 2023 we kicked it up a notch, redesigning it for different personas and compiling best-of resources.
